Challenge
Children's Dental Fun Zone had Dentrix as their practice management system (PMS), but realized as they grew locations, that they needed a solution that would centralize their major workflows, including billing, reporting, and patient communication.
Solution
Believing a cloud-based PMS was the way of the future, Evelyn Lahiji, COO at Children's Dental Fun Zone, and her team explored available solutions and decided to continue their Henry Schein One partnership by moving to Dentrix Ascend. When Covid hit, they took the opportunity to make the switch and train staff on the new software.
"Switching to cloud-based software with centralized billing and reporting has significantly improved efficiency and given me greater control and oversight," said Lahiji. "Immediate visibility into financial tracking and key metrics makes strategic decisions much easier."
Results
Dentrix Ascend has streamlined the way Children's Dental Fun Zone manages their operations. With an average of 150 patients seen per day, per office, the front-office staff rely on the software to track how long each office visit is and how long patients are spending in the office to ensure turnaround is on a timely basis.
The team can also make sure any applicable numbers are posted by the end of the day, so Lahiji can review them the next day. Managers can easily track their goals by running their numbers on Dentrix Ascend to make sure their office is on track for the month.
Billing is now completely centralized and doesn't need to be completed by each individual office. "Instead of having one person per office manage billing, I have five people that do everything for all of our offices," said Lahiji.
Children's Dental Fun Zone has also implemented Detect Al, Al-based x-ray analysis software powered by VideaHealth, into a number of their offices and has seen a rise in caries detection and patient acceptance. "When doctors are viewing 100 X-rays a day, they might miss a cavity," said Lahiji. "With Detect Al, they can easily focus on where any issues are and confirm whether the cavities they're catching are correct."
The team is also seeing an increase in faster treatment acceptance when they can use Detect Al to back up their diagnoses, creating a better experience for patients and their parents.
